An idea became a vision; a vision became a mission; and a mission brought Operation Beachhead to life. This life continues to grow through the support of people who wish to show their appreciation and thanks to our veterans.
An idea became a vision; a vision became a mission; and a mission brought Operation Beachhead to life.
The National Disabled Veterans Winters Sports Clinic in Snowmass, Colorado was created 30 years ago. This year the week-long event took place from April 3rd to April 8th. The program employs adaptive sport opportunities to U.S. military Veterans and active
duty servicemen and women. It brings together nearly 400 veterans seriously wounded while protecting our country and our freedom.
While participating in this program several years ago Operation Beachhead founder and president, Michael Ricci, was inspired to create a program to bring adaptive sports to the Jersey Shore. The program initially engaged participants in adaptive water sports. That program has now expanded to include adaptive sled-hockey, and adaptive ice skating. Operation Beachhead is always exploring opportunities to create new adaptive sport activities. The program has grown from only one participant its first year to several hundred challenged individuals serviced year round. All of this cannot be done without the hundreds of volunteers willing to bring their joy and expertise to help make Mr. Ricci's vision a success.
