An idea became a vision; a vision became a mission; and a mission brought Operation Beachhead to life.
This life continues to grow through the support of people who wish to show their appreciation and thanks to our veterans.

Operation Beachhead

An idea became a vision; a vision became a mission;
and a mission brought Operation Beachhead to life.

October 18, 2017 ~ Opening Day

Operation Beachhead opened its sled hockey season on October 18th, 2017 at the John J Piccolo Arena in Old Bridge, NJ.   We welcomed the members from the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in The Bronx, members from the Veteran’s Campus in East Orange, along with the regulars from the Operation Beachhead Team, and a large group of volunteers. Each year members of the FDNY (Fire Department of New York City) intramural hockey dedicates their time and skill to come and assist the participants.

 A large group arrived and was ready to take to the ice on a beautiful fall day. Operation Beachhead is fortunate to have enough sleds to accommodate everyone. Over the years, we have received grants from the USA Hockey Association, The Dennis Zelinski, II Memorial Fund, and a donation from the American Legion Post 168 in Red Bank.

As always, John from the ice arena had the sleds and equipment ready for us when we arrived. Samantha and Tommy of the Knights Kafe were opened early to greet the guests and provide breakfast sandwiches, bagels, coffee, and tea.

The warm weather proved to be a great start to another winter hockey season!
