Operation Beachhead held the last sled-hockey event of the season on Wednesday, March 14th.
At this event new volunteers from the Elks Lodge# 2534 in Manasquan NJ, joined our regular group of volunteers from FDNY (Fire Department of New York), local Old Bridge police department volunteers, US Coast Guard active duty troops, and volunteers from Operation Beachhead.
Two new participants joined the Operation Team, and from the smiles on their faces, we think they will be back.
Also joining us on this day was Rich Lee from Surfers Environmental Alliance, who presented Operation Beachhead with a generous donation.
After another wonderful season we thank Lisa Verlsera, Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation for the town of Old Bridge. We thank John
Conti who always makes sure the ice is groomed before we arrive. He also takes it upon
himself to have our equipment ready and the sleds lined up for our use. When participants arrive, he is there to greet them. His ever-present watchful eye ensures that everything goes smoothly. He is a real
asset to our program’s success. The Knights Kafe is always prepared and ready to serve our guests warm breakfast sandwiches and beverages when they arrive. After a session on the ice everyone is looking for some delicious luncheon and the Kafe never disappoints.
We can't thank them enough and the town of Old Bridge for the hospitality they extend all season.
