Operation Beachhead welcomed a large number of participants and volunteers on Saturday, July 22nd to honor Arthur J “AJ” Krausse. AJ was a volunteer who sadly passed away in June.
We met members from the Lyons Veterans Campus on the Spring Lake Beach. They arrived bright and early and were able to spend the entire day with us. Our regular team of adaptive surfers and several first-time participants joined them for a day in the surf. We were lucky to have such a large contingent of volunteers on hand to sign in volunteers and participants, sell shirts, pick up and serve lunch, and accommodate all the surfers.
Through generous donations, Operation Beachhead, purchased a new trailer to store and haul all our equipment. Setup and breakdown is always a major job of the day. The trailer made it easier this time. We thank the town of Spring Lake for their hospitality and for affording us the space to store the trailer.
After a long day in the surf everyone was ready to just relax and share lunch together. And as always Operation Beachhead experienced beautiful weather, the forecasted thunderstorms held off until we were finished for the day. Another beautiful day for Operation Beachhead.
What a way to honor AJ’s friendship, dedication, and kindness!
