Operation Beachhead participants were treated to a day of beautiful weather. It was so warm, 67 degrees, that we thought we should head to the beach instead of the rink. The warm weather made for an enjoyable day.
Groups from the Veterans East Orange Campus as well as members from James J. Peters Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Bronx NY, joined the Operation Beachhead team of sled-hockey players and volunteers at the John J Piccolo Arena in Old Bridge NJ
As always the Knights Kafe is ready to serve our guests when they arrive. There are always beverages and breakfast items available after the veterans long trip to the rink. After as hour or more on the ice, lunch is served and is always a welcomed treat.
There was a large turnout and Operation Beachhead is lucky to have secured, through grants and donations, enough sleds and equipment to accommodate every hockey player.
We thank the town of Old Bridge and the rink staff for their help and cooperation allowing us to use the rink, free of charge. The ice is always groomed when we arrive and the sleds are already taken out of the shed and are lined up waiting for the team. We couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
